4 days 3 nights on the Inca Trail
My friend Alex and I decided to take a trip to Machu Picchu located in Peru to visit the ancient Inca Ruins.
We began the Machu Picchu trail early morning accompanied by our guide, porters, and other trekkers who were all nice people. The trail began in Ollayatambo and as we trailed we were in constant awe of the beautiful scenery all around us. After a couple hours we came to the realization that this trek was gonna require us to be in shape. The hot coco kept us going and my ipod stayed in constant shuffle. We stoped for a nice warm meal along the trail and then came to the first of the ruins. After a few more hours of hiking we came to our camp site to set up our tents grab some cervesas(beers). The next day we awoke early to some more hot coco and a briefing of the days plan. We had a long hike up to reach Dead Womans Pass and the Inca stairs were very steep. The altitude started to affect everyone who was not used to air being thin and the lack of oxygen made me want to rest constanly. Once at the top we felt great knowing the rest was a downhill trip and thank god the weather was on our side. Day 3 began with the usual hot coco to get the body going and a meeting with the guide and the rest of the tourist. We continued the trail coming up on Miradores(look outs) and enjoyed the panaramic view. We continued alng going through some Incan tunnels and then stoped to get lunch. As we progessed through the machu picchu trail we explored the Sayajmarca and Puyapatamarca ruins and then reach our camp site for dinner and cervesas. The last day we woke up around 5am in the morning and headed to the Lost City of the Incas and when we reached the site it was amazing. I could just imagine how it might have looked back when it was populated and standing strong. It was much bigger than I originally expected and it was breath taking. We explored the temples, saw some drawings, admired the arquitechture, and took lots of pictures of the site.I can honestly recommend the machu picchu inca trail tour to anyone up to the challenge and wanting to get some alone time with mother nature and all her beauty. Someday when I hope to take my kids their and let them see this with their own eyes. Afterwards we were exhausted so we returned to the camp site and hoped in the bus back.
